FTMO Futures review cover: Growth vs Pro, from $119 a month, 90% profit split

Key takeaways

  • FTMO Futures has two plans, Growth and Pro, each at 50K, 100K and 150K, with no activation fee.
  • Growth costs less and has no daily loss limit in the evaluation. Pro has a hard daily limit but pays out 100% of profit with bigger caps.
  • Both use an end-of-day trailing drawdown and a 90/10 profit split on the Sim-Funded account.
  • It is still in beta and Live accounts are by invitation, so check the rules on FTMO's site before you buy.

FTMO is one of the biggest names in forex prop trading, and FTMO Futures is its move into CME futures. The firm also took over OANDA's prop trading clients, so a lot of traders are about to look at this program. Here is how it works, plan by plan, in dollars.

What is FTMO Futures?

FTMO Futures funds you to trade CME futures: about 30 contracts, 19 minis or standard contracts and 11 micros. You trade on Tradovate, NinjaTrader or TradingView with Level 1 live market data included.

The path is simple:

  1. Pass a one-step Evaluation: hit the profit target without breaking the drawdown or consistency rule.
  2. Trade a Sim-Funded Account: no profit target and no consistency rule, payouts at a 90/10 split.
  3. Get invited to a Live Funded Account when FTMO's trading team approves your record.

There is no activation fee on either plan. The evaluation is a monthly subscription.

The rules in plain English

End-of-day trailing drawdown. Your drawdown floor moves up as your end-of-day balance makes new highs, and never moves back down. Once it reaches your starting balance, it locks there. On a Growth 50K, you start with a $48,000 floor.

Consistency rule (evaluation only). Your best day can't be more than 40% (Growth) or 50% (Pro) of your total profit. On a $3,000 target with a 40% rule, a $1,500 day means you need at least $3,750 total before you pass.

Daily loss limit. This is the biggest difference between the plans:

  • Growth: no daily limit in the evaluation. On the Sim-Funded account the limit is soft: hit it and your positions close, but you can trade again the next day.
  • Pro: the limit is hard in both phases. Hit it and the account is gone.

Sim-Funded payouts

PlanAccountMax drawdownDaily loss limitDays before payoutMin profit per dayWithdrawableMax per payout
Growth$50,000$2,000$1,000 (soft)4$15050% of profit$2,500
Growth$100,000$3,500$2,000 (soft)4$25050% of profit$3,000
Growth$150,000$5,000$3,000 (soft)4$30050% of profit$4,000
Pro$50,000$3,000$1,000 (hard)5$200100% of profit$5,000
Pro$100,000$4,500$1,500 (hard)5$300100% of profit$6,000
Pro$150,000$6,000$2,000 (hard)5$500100% of profit$8,000

You keep 90% of every approved payout. At least half of each request has to come from profit made in the current payout cycle. Contract limits scale up as you build profit (for example 2 to 5 contracts on a 50K), and you can run up to three Sim-Funded accounts at once.

How the Live account works

FTMO moves selected traders from Sim-Funded to a Live Funded account at its own discretion. There is no fixed number of payouts that gets you there. Once you are live, you clear a one-time buffer, then you can withdraw profit above it daily with no payout cap, still at 90/10. A market data fee applies on Live.

Costs to know

  • Commissions: $0.50 per side on minis and standard contracts, $0.20 per side on micros.
  • Level 1 data is included. You can't add Level 2 depth of market while logged in with FTMO credentials, which matters if you trade order flow.

Growth or Pro: which should you pick?

  • Pick Growth if you want the cheaper entry and room for a bad day. The soft daily limit and no daily limit in the evaluation make it forgiving, but you can only withdraw half your profit per payout and the caps are lower.
  • Pick Pro if you trade with tight risk every day and want your full profit out. The hard daily limit is unforgiving, but you withdraw 100% of profit and the caps are double.

Either way, check the rules on FTMO's own site before you buy. The product is still in beta and FTMO says details may change. To compare it with other futures firms, see payout rules compared and this week's top 10 prop firm deals.
